President's Message

Dear Members,

It is an honour to serve as your President of the UCL Economics and Finance Society this year. This year, my focus will centre around three key priorities:

More Mentorship and Career Support
I know how competitive and sometimes overwhelming it can feel to navigate early careers in finance and economics. That is why we will expand our mentorship programme and introduce weekly technical workshops across Finance and Business—so you can build practical skills to excel in applications and interviews.

More Engaging and Impactful Events
We are moving beyond passive speaker sessions to more interactive networking events, large-scale finance conferences, and targeted panels with firm representatives. We will also organise more social events and competitions—because success is about community as much as careers.

More Tailored Opportunities
We will launch specialised sub-divisions in Finance (Markets, IBD, Quant) and Business (PE/VC, Real Estate, Consulting). Whether you are passionate about a specific sector or still exploring your interests, you will find events and pathways that match your goals.

I look forward to working with all of you to create a society that truly works for you.

Whether it is your first time hearing about investment banking or you are a seasoned professional, we have something for all of you.

We are also introducing EFS’s first finance conference, collaborating with Oxford, Cambridge, LSE and Warwick. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet leading figures in finance, connect directly with HR teams from top firms and meet like-minded students from other universities.

Additionally, we are  rolling out finance newsletters to keep you updated on what’s been happening in the markets and deal rooms and tips for your finance application.

Lastly, we hope to build on previous years' success by hosting high-profile speakers at EFS and have a greater range of speakers from all areas of finance. We also are committed to hosting more panel and networking events, giving our members the chance to build their connection with industry professionals at all levels.
